WHAT IS VIGILANCE?

The Vigilance Next Generation Naval Vessel was launched at CANSEC 2023. Team Vigilance consists of Vard Marine, Ontario Shipyards, Thales Canada, SH Defence, and Fincantieri. They bring together a wealth of expertise in naval ship design, global shipbuilding, combat system integration, modular payload systems, and life-cycle solutions. This collaboration ensures Team Vigilance is able to meet the needs of any naval operator in this space and beyond.

Fast Interceptor Boat System

Tailored Design

Vigilance is specifically tailored to meet the future fleet needs of the Royal Canadian Navy. It emphasizes flexibility, adaptability, and cost efficiency while incorporating Vard Marine’s renowned naval design advantages.

Operational Objectives

The vessel is engineered for high-tempo sovereignty missions, global deployment, and forward basing. Its capabilities are geared towards fulfilling critical operational needs, including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, subsea infrastructure protection, mine countermeasures, resource conservation, and maritime interdiction operations.

Modularity and Future-Proof Design

The integration of the Cube™ plug-and-play mission module and payload handling system ensures adaptability for various tasks, providing a multi-mission capability and future readiness.

National Shipbuilding Strategy

Under pillar 2 of the National Shipbuilding Strategy, Vigilance aims to replace the Kingston Class Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels. The plan involves designing, building, and equipping these new ships within Canada.

Empowering Naval Forces

Ultimately, Vigilance aims to provide the sailors of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve with modern tools necessary to protect Canada's vital interests both domestically and internationally.
